Location and History
Aan de Doorns is situated 8km from Worcester along the R43 to Villiersdorp and is one of the largest cellars in the region. Founded in 1954, the winery derives its name from the stretch of thorn trees lining the banks of the nearby Doorns River. The area benefits from a unique terroir, with varied soils that contribute to the production of high-quality wines. The winery spares no effort in maintaining its 1,600 hectares of vineyards spread across 26 farms located in the Aan de Doorns, Eilandia, and Scherpenheuwel areas. The winemaker, Chris Geldenhuys, leads a dedicated team committed to excellence, which has garnered numerous awards for their wines. The farm's forward-thinking attitude and adaptability in vineyard management have played a pivotal role in its success within the competitive South African wine industry.
Wine Tasting
Aan de Doorns Cellar features a new tasting room designed for visitors to enjoy the expansive range of wines offered by the estate. Guests can taste a variety of cultivars, including popular selections such as Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Muscat d’Alexandrie, Pinotage, Shiraz, and an assortment of ports and muscadels.
