Beaumont Family Wines

Winery Description

Location and History

Located in the picturesque Bot River valley, Beaumont Family Wines boasts a vibrant landscape bordered by towering mountains and winding rivers. The farm is part of the Overberg region in South Africa, well-known for its diverse terroir and cooler climate, conducive for growing premium grape varietals. The vineyards were initially established in the 1700s by the Dutch East India Company. Following several decades of agricultural practice, Jayne and Raoul Beaumont purchased the farm in 1974, breathing new life into its operations. Their vision led to the replanting of vineyards primarily focused on Chenin Blanc and Pinotage. Today, the Beaumont legacy is carried further by their son, Sebastian and his wife Nici, who have made substantial improvements to the estate's facilities, including a family-friendly deli and renovated tasting room. The signature wines produced here reflect the unique characteristics of the Bot River and are grounded in the philosophy of minimal intervention winemaking, focusing on preserving the intrinsic qualities of each grape variety. The historically significant buildings on the farm highlight traditional Overberg architecture, featuring restored barns and cottages that contribute to the farm's rustic charm.
