Established by the Myburgh family, who have deep roots in the area, De Meye spans 100 hectares of vineyards where premium red varietals like Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Shiraz thrive. The family’s commitment to sustainable farming is evident, as the winery refrains from using harmful herbicides and insecticides. This approach aligns with their philosophy of producing high-quality wines that reflect the terroir. The tasting experiences are available Wednesday to Sunday throughout the year, with specific hours depending on the season; from 11h00 to 17h00 in summer months and from Thursday to Sunday from 11h00 to 17h00 during winter months. Guests can sample various wines including the Sauvignon Blanc, Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc, and more. Notably, their Sauvignon Blanc 2021 showcases delightful flavors of passion fruit and citrus, while the rich Cabernet Franc 2020 captivates with its complex notes of fynbos, plum, and dark fruits. The tastings take place at the estate’s tasting room, which serves as a welcoming venue for guests to enjoy the wines alongside scenic views of sprawling vineyards.
