Location and History

Heuningkloof Estate is situated near Greyton in the Western Cape of South Africa. The estate spans 54 hectares, featuring a unique terroir conducive to various grape cultivars, including Shiraz, Chardonnay, and Tempranillo. Originally established approximately a decade ago, the vineyards suffered neglect until Colin and Lynn Snyman revitalized them after acquiring part of the estate in 2017. Their relocation from Ballito, KZN aimed to immerse themselves in the heart of the South African winemaking industry. Since their first harvest in 2019, where they crushed their initial batch of grapes, Delphin Wines has gained a strong reputation among wine aficionados across regions like the Overberg and Gauteng. The winery is focused on producing exceptional quality wines that reflect the unique characteristics of their specific growing environment. The surrounding Riviersonderend Mountains provide a picturesque backdrop, enhancing the overall experience of visitors.

Wine Tasting

The wine tasting experience at Delphin Wines is designed for visitors to engage deeply with the offerings, which include a diverse selection of wines crafted meticulously by hand. Wine tastings occur by appointment only, ensuring that each visitor receives personalized attention. Some of the wines available for tasting include the 2021 Le Mélange, a Southern Rhone style blend, the 2021 Wheatlands Shiraz, known for its rich berry and spice notes, and the 2022 Unwooded Chardonnay. Visitors can enjoy the ambience of the tasting room overlooking the vineyards and Riviersonderend Mountains. The wines undergo unique winemaking processes, including extended maceration and oak aging, which enhance their flavors. Delphin Wines has received high ratings for several of its vintages, further establishing its standing in the wine industry. This bespoke tasting experience allows guests to learn about the winemaking techniques while savoring the nuances of their terroir-driven wines.
