Dieu Donnè
Winery Description
Location and History
Located high on the south-western slopes of the Franschhoek Mountains, Dieu Donné Vineyards benefits from a unique terroir characterized by rocky soils of weathered granite. The elevation provides a cooler climate ideal for slow ripening of grapes, enabling the production of high-quality wines that reflect the area's essence. This scenic valley is surrounded by magnificent mountain vistas and offers a tranquil setting for wine enthusiasts. The farm was originally known as Uitkyk before being rebranded, with Hennie du Toit, the current farm manager, having a personal connection as he was born on the farm. The vineyard, acquired by Robert Maingard in 1987, embodies a blend of Mauritian and French heritage in its winemaking approach. The commitment to preserving the natural environment and showcasing the unique flavors of each vintage reflects the philosophy of the vineyard's winemaking team.
