Domaine Des Dieux

Winery Description

Location and History

Nestled in the scenic Hemel-en-Aarde Ridge, Domaine des Dieux is surrounded by the region's notable mountainous landscapes. The winery benefits from cool maritime breezes, which enhance the unique terroir of this wine-producing area. The soil is chosen meticulously to support the virus-free cultivars that flourish in this environment. The site was established when two wine enthusiasts purchased the farm in 2002, fulfilling their dream of founding a winery that would produce high-quality Cap Classique wines. They became the first MCC producer in this acclaimed region, capitalizing on the ideal climate and soils designed for winemaking. Their philosophy aligns closely with that of traditional French and European wine practices, emphasizing quality over quantity. With a commitment to excellence, they focus on maintaining small production volumes that ensure unique expressions of their grapes. Alongside the vineyards, olive trees were also planted, supporting the biodiversity of the area while providing premium olive oil for culinary delights. Visitors are encouraged to explore this idyllic location and experience the rich history of the winery.

Wine Tasting

The wine tasting experience at Domaine des Dieux is designed to educate and delight visitors with a selection of their award-winning wines. Available for tasting are sparking wines such as Claudia Brut MCC and Rose of Sharon Brut Rose MCC, alongside still wines like Josephine Pinot Noir and Syrah Mourvedre Grenache. Claudia Brut MCC boasts a blend of 80% Chardonnay and 20% Pinot Noir, resulting in layers of apple and creamy lemon notes, while the Rose of Sharon presents vibrant aromas of strawberry and raspberry, matured for over six years. The Josephine Pinot Noir showcases bright cherry and cranberry notes with smoky undertones due to aging in small French oak barrels. Wine enthusiasts can also indulge in the rich flavors of the Syrah Mourvedre blend, which has been crafted using traditional methods that highlight its complex character. The tasting room provides a cozy and informative setting where guests can engage with knowledgeable staff, enhancing their appreciation for each wine's unique characteristics and the meticulous efforts behind their production.
