Doolhof
Winery Description
Location and History
Situated at the foot of Limietberg in the Cape mountain ranges, Doolhof Wine Estate encompasses roughly 380 hectares of land. The estate benefits from unique terroirs, consisting of a combination of Malmesbury shale, Glenrosa, and Clovelly soils that enable deep root growth. Approximately 40 hectares are dedicated to vineyards, where different varietals thrive on the eastern slopes. White grapes such as Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay flourish here, while red varietals like Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Shiraz find ideal growing conditions thanks to the estate's distinctive microclimates and topography. Doolhof Wine Estate also embraces environmental stewardship, engaging in conservation efforts to remove alien vegetation along the Kromme River, which runs through the property. This dedication to preserving the natural beauty of the estate underlines the commitment to quality wine production.
