Du Preez Estate

Winery Description

Location and History

Du Preez Estate is dedicated to producing wines of exceptional quality that reflect a legacy of passion, craftsmanship, and commitment. Nestled in the stunning Breedekloof valley, beneath the towering Du Toitskloof mountains, the estate is surrounded by rows of vineyards and exudes a sense of timeless beauty.

This family farm, steeped in history, features charming buildings shaded by ancient oak trees, where chickens roam freely beneath the branches. Locals in Rawsonville will tell you the Du Preez family has been pioneers in winemaking for generations.

Celebrating its centenary in 2016, Du Preez Estate continues to innovate, planting new vineyards and expanding facilities to ensure a thriving future. Three generations - Hennie du Preez Snr, Jean du Preez, and Janette Basson - lead the estate with a commitment to preserving the legacy for the next generation.

With its picturesque surroundings, oak trees, majestic mountains, and historic buildings, Du Preez Estate offers the perfect setting for romantic, memorable events, with endless opportunities for stunning photography.

Wine Tasting

Du Preez offers award-winning wines such as their Sauvignon Blanc, which is known for its crisp acidity and bright citrus flavours, with notes of green apple, lime and a hint of grass, Chenin Blanc, a versatile wine that can range from dry to sweet, with flavours that include honey, melon and floral notes and Chardonnay, which could be buttery and rich with notes of vanilla and oak, or leaner and mineral with green apple and citrus flavours - giving their guests a range of white wines to enjoy.

The red wines include Polla's red, an easy-drinking blend with a story behind it (you will have to visit to find out), a Merlot that is known for its typical smooth texture and approachable flavours with notes of ripe plum, black cherry and a hint of chocolate and tobacco. Du Preez also makes a Shiraz, a wine that can be bold and spicy or more restrained, with hints of blackberries, plums, and pepper.

In the Hendrik Lodewyk Wine Range, guests can choose from a wooded Chenin Blanc, an MCC and a Petit Verdot.
