Du Toitskloof Wines
Winery Description
Location and History
Nestled in the picturesque Breedekloof region, DTK Wines encompasses 22 farms, each contributing to the unique terroir of the region. The cooperative, established in 1962 by six visionary wine farmers, focuses on sustainable winemaking practices and community development. The farms are characterised by their varied soil types, benefiting from the region's Mediterranean climate, which is ideal for cultivating notable grape varieties. The winery's proximity to the Cape Agulhas coast influences the flavour profiles of the wines, particularly those produced from Sauvignon Blanc and Syrah grapes. DTK Wines pays homage to its rich heritage through labels like Pierre DuMont, honouring pioneering French Huguenots who shaped the South African wine landscape since 1696. Over the years, DTK Wines has become a beacon of Fairtrade principles, with initiatives supporting local communities and empowering farmers. As such, it not only contributes to quality wine production but also plays a vital role in enhancing the social fabric of the area.
