Location and History
Dunstone Country Estate, located at the foot of the Bainskloof Pass in Wellington, just an hour’s drive from Cape Town, is a charming guest house and boutique winery. Nestled at the foothills of the Hawequa and Limiet Mountains, the estate planted its first vines in 2003.
Wine Tasting
The terroir-driven, single vineyard wines are harvested by hand using traditional methods, ensuring the high quality that has earned Dunstone numerous awards. Wine tastings are available at the guest house, with prior booking required.
Restaurant
Roots Bistro, a winery restaurant with stunning views of the majestic Hawequa Mountains, offers a rural and homely dining experience. Located on a gravel road, this family bistro is managed independently and serves classic home-style dishes that pair perfectly with Dunstone’s cellar wines. All menu items are freshly prepared using local products and organic produce whenever possible.
The child-friendly bistro includes indoor and outdoor play areas, a large soft play area with a Lego table, a climbing wall, a mini-kitchen, a jungle gym, mini golf, mini soccer, swings, and slides. Visitors can also meet the resident farm animals, including ducks and goats. Roots Bistro welcomes well-behaved social dogs.
