Equitania
Winery Description
Location and History
Nestled against the lower slopes of the Helderberg, Equitania Boutique Wine Farm boasts breathtaking views of False Bay and Table Mountain. The Helderberg region is notable for its winemaking legacy, dating back to 1706 when Willem Adriaan van der Stel first produced wine in the area. This estate is part of the prestigious Stellenbosch wine-producing region in the Western Cape and focuses primarily on Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc varietals. Established in 2000, the vineyards are cultivated with care, emphasizing exceptional viticulture practices. The sandy gravel soils and Mediterranean climate paired with a cooling ocean breeze provide ideal conditions for classic noble grape varieties. Over the years, the farm has become synonymous with quality, and its historic homestead, once featured on Top Billing, now serves as the business's headquarters. In 2016, the Institute of Mine Seismology acquired the farm, lending to its rich legacy and commitment to producing excellent wines.
