The estate embodies a picturesque landscape characterized by mountains and fertile valleys, which contribute distinctly to its terroir. The soil composition, primarily clay and shale, supports a thriving ecosystem for viticulture. Over the decades, the De Vries family has played an instrumental role in the winery's success, with Andrew De Vries at the helm as the Managing Director and leads a dedicated team of winemakers, including Nicholas Husselman and Handré Visagie. The winery prides itself on its commitment to modern winemaking practices while honoring traditional techniques. Its philosophy centers on quality and sustainability, enabling the production of a diverse range of wines that showcase the unique characteristics of their vineyard and respect for nature. With an annual grape harvest that reaches around 17,000 tons, Koelenhof has transitioned from bulk wine production to focus on boutique bottled offerings.
