Nestled in the Bottelary Hills sub-route of Stellenbosch, Kunjani captures the essence of the Western Cape Winelands. The area is characterised by its scenic landscapes, vineyards, and natural beauty. The vineyard's location influences the terroir, contributing to the unique flavour profiles of its wines. Founded by Paul Barth and Pia Watermeyer, Kunjani embodies a commitment to quality and hospitality. The farm’s design reflects contemporary influences, while paying homage to traditional winemaking practices. With vineyards showcasing a variety of cultivars, Kunjani not only produces exceptional wines but also represents the warmth and culture of South African wine country. Kunjani means ‘Hi, how are you?’ in Zulu and that is exactly how friendships start. It is here where good food, fine wine and luxurious accommodation combine to truly reflect the good life … and the true character of this spectacular place where love and passion are reflected in every creation.

Wine Tasting

Kunjani approaches winemaking with a distinctive philosophy. In addition to cultivating vineyards on their Devon Valley property in Stellenbosch’s Bottelary Hills, they personally select grapes from vineyards where specific cultivars thrive. The Devon Valley is favored for their red wines, including Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and the award-winning Shiraz.

For white wines, Kunjani sources Chenin Blanc from 38-year-old bushvines in the neighboring Bottelary Hills, renowned for producing some of the world’s finest examples of this cultivar. The cooler, ocean-influenced terroir of the Elgin Valley, located 40 kilometers south, is where Kunjani selects grapes for their Sauvignon Blanc and Stolen Chicken Rosé.
