Le Riche
Winery Description
Location and History
Le Riche Winery is situated in the renowned Stellenbosch region of South Africa, an area celebrated for its exceptional wine cultivation. This picturesque location features breathtaking views of mountains and valleys, ideal for producing quality wine. The winery’s terroir is characterized by decomposed granite soils on mountain slopes and loamy gravels on the valley floor, which contribute to the distinctive qualities of the wines produced. Established by the Le Riche Family, who arrived from Normandy in 1698, the winery has deep roots in the region. The family's commitment to viticulture began in the late 1970s with founder Etienne Le Riche. The family’s understanding of the land and winemaking led to the establishment of Le Riche in 1996. Leveraging the talents of experienced local farmers, they focus exclusively on high-quality fruit sourced from exceptional vineyard sites. Today, the winery thrives on its traditional yet innovative winemaking philosophy, with core members continuing the legacy of crafting outstanding wines that truly reflect the essence of Stellenbosch.
