Meinert Wines
Winery Description
Location and History
Situated in the scenic Devon Valley of the Stellenbosch Region in the Western Cape of South Africa, Meinert Wines resides in an area praised for its breathtaking views and diverse terroir. The vineyards are located at Devon Crest Vineyards, where the soil consists of rich, decomposed granite, primarily ensuring that the grapes cultivated deliver high-quality yields. Founded in 1987 by Martin Meinert, who purchased the original 11.5ha estate, it has since expanded to cover approximately 16ha through acquisitions and meticulous vineyard management. The winery is driven by a commitment to small-batch production, focusing on individual character and craftsmanship. Brendan Butler, the winemaker, practices a philosophy of sustainability and terroir expression, ensuring that each wine produced carries a story of its unique vineyard origin. Visitors often marvel at the vistas of rolling hills and lush vineyards that stretch across the estate, making it a popular destination for both wine enthusiasts and those seeking a tranquil escape.
