Paserene
Winery Description
Location and History
Paserene, a small family-operated winery on the outskirts of Franschhoek, is owned by third-generation winemaker Martin Smith and his collaborative partner Ndabe Mareda. Paserene embodies patience, balance, and creativity and is dedicated to producing luxury wines. The estate's attention to detail is evident in every aspect, from the bespoke labels crafted by exceptional artists to the elegant wines from three distinct terroirs: Franschhoek, Tulbagh, and Elgin.
The tasting lounge, inspired by the nest of a migratory swallow, showcases the estate's natural beauty, reflected in each award-winning wine. Visitors can enjoy leisurely wine tastings amidst the manicured gardens and undisturbed views of the Franschhoek mountains. The tasting room, designed by SCS Architects, features glass stack doors that transform the space, blending the interior seamlessly with the stunning exterior.
Wine Tasting
Overlooking a small dam, a nod to the swallow's habit of swooping over water, the tasting facilities offer a range of wines accompanied by snacks. The Elements Range tasting includes five wines - two whites, a rosé, and two reds. The Paserene Signature Tasting features four of their premium wines. Wines at Paserene include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah.
Restaurant
A selection of small plates, such as olives, cheeses, smoked trout, and charcuterie, is available to complement the wine tasting. A platter for two with a selection of these items is also offered.
