Radford Dale is an organic estate founded in 1998 by Ben Radford and Alex Dale. The estate is located on 20 hectares of prime land in the cool-climate Elgin Valley, with vineyards in Stellenbosch, Swartland and Hermanus. The estate focuses on organic farming, producing Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc, and Semillon, with South Africa’s first Gamay Noir vineyard in 20 years, set to start production in 2026. The estate benefits from ample rainfall, cooler temperatures, ancient Bokkeveld shale soils, and proximity to the ocean, resulting in wines of purity and finesse.

Radford Dale’s journey has always centered on experimentation and discovery, aiming for wines that reflect their natural environment, vintage, and terroir. Their wines are site-driven, unmanipulated, and balanced, made with natural yeast fermentations, minimal adjustments, and low new oak usage. All vineyards are organically certified, ensuring the wines have restrained alcohol levels and natural acidity, hallmarks of elegance and refreshment.

The team at Radford Dale employs traditional methods and minimal intervention in the vineyard and cellar to allow the wines to express their unique characteristics. This includes natural disease prevention, eco-friendly practices like using dog fur to deter wildlife, installing perching posts for birds of prey to control rodents, and implementing a composting program to reduce the need for fertilisers.
