Ridgeback
Winery Description
Location and History
Situated on the northern slopes of the majestic Paarl mountain, Ridgeback Wines encompasses 65 hectares of diverse landscapes. The farm maintains a strong commitment to conserving the area's remarkable proteas and fynbos, which flourish within the region's unique terroir. This protection of heritage allows Ridgeback to uphold its long-standing farming traditions while producing some of the finest wines in the Cape. The winery itself overlooks a serene dam filled with Koi fish, creating a tranquil setting for visitors. Ridgeback was inspired by the brave Rhodesian Ridgeback dog, embodying resilience and character reflected in their wines. Currently, 35 hectares are under vine with the potential for further expansion, allowing the winemaker to experiment with various cultivars. The vineyards benefit from careful management and high trellising, yielding an exciting array of blends and single varietal wines that showcase the best of the terroir.
