Super Single Vineyards
Winery Description
Location and History
Nestled in the serene valley of Stellenboschkloof, Canettevallei Wine and Lavender Farm boasts a rich heritage dating back to 1682. The farm, owned by the De Waal family, draws inspiration from its breathtaking surroundings, with majestic mountains and picturesque vineyards that embody the true essence of South African winemaking. Located along the historic Ou Kaapse Hardepad, the estate is about 10 kilometers from Stellenbosch in the Western Cape. The beautiful landscapes and ideal terroir are complemented by its unique location in one of the coldest areas of South Africa. This proximity to cool continental climates contributes to the distinctive flavor profiles of the wines produced here, including the boutique winery known as Super Single Vineyards (SSV). The commitment to quality in winemaking is rooted in a philosophy of minimal intervention and a focus on bespoke vineyard selection, ensuring that only the finest grapes are used in production. Daniel de Waal, who grew up in the area and received guidance from renowned mentors, has led the winery with a passion for crafting premium wines that reflect their unique origins and the family’s dedication to their craft.
